Our Birth

With a very modest beginning… Topcoat Asphalt commenced its operations in 1990 with a 60 tonne per hour drum plant.

120 Tonne Plant

In September 2001 Topcoat Asphalt commissioned a new 120 tonne per hour state of the art batching plant constructed in the Wingfield workshop under the direction of Fabri Cicconi. The batching cycle is an automated and computer controlled process and, in combination with experienced batch plant operators and on-site testing facilities, achieves the quality and standard expected by our clients.

Testing Laboratory

Topcoat Asphalt’s material testing laboratory was constructed and fitted out at the Wingfield premises in August 2002.

250 Tonne Plant

In 2013 Topcoat commissioned a 250 tonne per hour Aesco Madsen drum plant to work in combination with our existing batch plant to provide state of the art continuous feed production including warm mix asphalt technology with high RAP production capability.

Acquired by VSA Roads

Topcoat Asphalt was acquired by VSA Roads. VSA Roads is a joint venture with Colas Australia Group. VSA Roads employ over 220 staff across South Australia and Victoria and operate in the Asphalt and Spray Seal industries as well as operating a hard rock quarry in Ararat, Victoria.

Upgraded Mobile Plant

In late 2019 our fully upgraded and refurbished mobile plant was commissioned into operation. The mobile asphalt plant is a highly mobile and versatile asphalt production facility and consist of 4 semi-trailer.

Lonsdale Asphalt Plant Commissioned

Lonsdale Asphalt Plant was commissioned. The plant is a Benninghoven ECO 2000 Asphalt Batch Plant and was constructed with all the necessary equipment to produce both RAP and Crumb Rubber asphalt mixes.
